Who Is Eastern Awning Systems?

Eastern Awning Systems is an American retractable awning manufacturer based at 843 Echo Lake Road in Watertown, Connecticut. The company started in 1961 as Eastern Aluminum, an aluminum products distributor. In 1975 Stephen Lukos took over from his father and moved the business toward fabric awnings; in 1985 he shut down retail entirely to concentrate on manufacturing lateral-arm retractable awnings for the wholesale trade. In 1996 Eastern opened a 37,000-square-foot manufacturing plant, which is still where every Sunflexx and SunScape frame is built today.
