Aluminum Bahama Shutters
Custom Aluminum Bahama Shutters, Built in Tampa
1800Awnings has built Bahama shutters in our own Tampa, Florida factory since 1987. Our crew cuts, welds, powder coats and crates every shutter to your size, then ships it to any of the 48 contiguous states, usually 2–3 weeks after you order. Prices are posted online: Bahama shutters start at $420 (FauxView, 24" × 36"), and a typical 36" × 60" window runs $1,050 to $1,725 depending on style.
A Bahama shutter (also called a Bermuda shutter) hangs from a hinge above the window and props out at an angle on support arms. Open, it works like a louvered awning: it shades the glass before the sun hits it, keeps rain off, lets air through and gives you privacy from the street.

How we build them
- Powder-coated aluminum frames and louvers that won't rot, warp or rust in salt air, and never need painting.
- Built by our own fabricators in Tampa. We make these shutters; we don't resell someone else's.
- 35+ in-house powder-coat colors, from Pure White and Bengal White to Bronze, Matte Black, Sky Blue and Emerald Green, plus woodgrain finishes that look like stained wood.
- Top-hinged with adjustable support arms so you set the angle for shade or view. Fixed arms are available.
- Stainless steel fasteners for coastal installs.
Permits, engineering and storms
Many Florida cities and counties treat Bahama shutters as exterior attachments that must meet Florida Building Code wind loads. If your building department asks for signed and sealed engineering, add it from Extra Services: $350 for a standard letter or $500 for expanded scope. A $50 fastener kit puts anchors matched to your wall type (block, poured concrete, brick or wood frame) in the box.
Bahama shutters are shade and architectural shutters. Closed and secured, they add a layer against wind-driven rain and debris, but they are not automatically code-approved hurricane protection. If your home needs rated storm protection, check with your building department or call us about your wind zone.
Installation
Shutters ship finished and ready to mount, and handy homeowners often install them with a drill and a helper. Our DIY install guide walks through it. In the Tampa Bay area, our team can measure and install, and elsewhere we can connect you with a dealer or installer.
